TALENTED TEENAGE RACER ELLA LLOYD ANNOUNCED
AS PART OF ‘TEAM UK FUTURES PROGRAMME’
Exciting teenage racing driver Ella Lloyd will be part of the new Motorsport UK Academy Futures Programme for 2023, a hugely important development for the 17-year-old from Pontypridd at the same time as she moves up the racing ladder into the all-new Ginetta GT Championship.
Ella, who is embarking on only her second season of motor racing this year, was announced as one of the intake for the ‘Team UK Academy Futures Programme’ during a special launch event at Motorsport UK’s headquarters in Bicester on Tuesday, 14th February.
Acknowledging the Welsh teenager has shown the ambition and potential to develop her skills and progress through the ‘competitors pathway’, her position within the Futures Programme will offer exclusive access to special training days.
Furthermore, Ella’s burgeoning career will now benefit from wide-ranging support through the association with Motorsport UK from industry experts and Academy coaches.
Coupled with this, the multiple Ginetta Junior Championship points finisher is elated to confirm she is making the step-up into the new-for-2023 Ginetta GT Championship for the coming season – a hugely significant move so early in her young career.
Running as a key support category to the prestigious Intelligent Money British GT Championship, the country’s premier endurance racing category, the Ginetta GT Championship will feature two main classes with Ella competing in the headline GT5 class.
Ella will once again be supported this year by chief sponsor Calibre Contracting Ltd. A team announcement will be made in due course.
Ella Lloyd:
“I am so excited to have been named part of the Team UK Academy Futures Programme for 2023 and I want to say the biggest thank you to everyone at Motorsport UK for the faith they’ve shown in me. It’s a major boost ahead of my second season in car racing, and especially with the step-up we’re making into the new Ginetta GT Championship."
“It’s going to be a very important year for me and I’m intending to grab every opportunity with both hands. It’s obviously a new car, with more power and grip compared to what I was used to last year in the Juniors, but I’m confident we can make a good start in testing and build from there.”
